In Water Treatment, there can always be uncommon problems depending on where someone may be. Fortunately, while they may be uncommon for a given area, other areas across the world may deal with them on a daily basis. This allows us to have access to technology and treatment systems to effectively address even the most unusual of issues.
Uncommon Filtration systems
A class of man-made chemicals known as PFAS—short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and PFOA, short for perfluorooctanoic acid—makes consumer goods water, stain, and grease-resistant. However, PFAS are toxic even at extremely low levels (i.e., parts per quadrillion), posing significant health risks. They are called “forever chemicals” because they are nearly indestructible. The system utilizes ResinTech’s SIR-110-HP ion exchange resin, designed to remove a wide spectrum of PFAS chemicals from contaminated water down to non- detect levels.
The high removal capacity and superior kinetics of the SIR-110-HP resin require less media and fewer exchanges compared to carbon, resulting in lower waste volumes and a smaller footprint. The system utilizes ResinTech SIR-110-HP PFAS/PFOA selective media and has received the WQA Gold Seal. Testing has shown that SIR-110-HP is effective for removing various PFAS compounds, including PFOA and PFAS.
Water Chemistry Requirements: To thoroughly evaluate the system's performance, an understanding of the influent water chemistry is needed. This includes levels of Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and individual PFAS compounds, in addition to basic background water chemistry (chloride, sulfate, alkalinity, etc.). Other contaminants that may impact PFAS removal, such as uranium, perchlorate, chromate, and arsenic, should also be identified. Suitable for Single Vessel, Lead/Lag, or Parallel Operations.
Methane may occur in a well due to natural conditions or it may enter a well due to human activities including coal mining, gas well drilling, pipeline leaks and from landfills. Methane is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and combustible gas. Production-grade methane is marked by a pungent odor from mercaptan; a chemical odorant added to methane by a gas company before distribution to help in leak detection.
Methane gas alone is not toxic and does not cause health problems in drinking water but at elevated concentrations it can escape quickly from water causing an explosive hazard in poorly ventilated or confined areas. Escaping gas may seep into confined areas of your home, where it may reach dangerous concentrations. There have been cases in Pennsylvania where houses, camps, or wells have exploded due to methane accumulation.
Designed to reduce Methane and other gasses with similar characteristics. This Open-Air System operates on the traditional 40/60 pressure system. The Air-Draw dilutes the methane gas and forces it outside the house through a 2” vent. The system includes a 22 Gallon Bladder Tank.
